In Part 1 I wrote of the most important skill of all, people skills. I love to tell stories at my seminars and workshops. So much that is written about reception areas is about creating the right impression. Whilst this is true, and it is important that on entering your reception area your clients, suppliers and other visitors are impressed with the ambiance of the place, there are other considerations which need to be accounted for.Firstly, does the reception area and the reception desk itself do the job it is required to do?One of the first questions we need to ask our customers is about the working height. For instance, a reception desk in a salon or other form of retail establishment will most often require to be suitable for staff standing height. These are often pod reception counters taking up a small footprint which may accommodate just a telephone, computer and appointment book.
